ook in het NL, zie hierna
From september 19th till december 19th 2008, I worked as an artist in residence at the EKWC Den Bosch. For three months I lived and worked in Den Bosch. The works where exhibited in DAVO Havenkwartier Deventer “Loodzwaar Steengoed”.
I learnt a lot about moulding, claybodys, drying procedure. I also met some interesting people from all over the world. The EKWC is the largest ceramic work space in Europe.
Monument Old game rink
At first I wanted to work in the EKWC to learn about the opportunities of building the grandstand out of pieces of ceramic. The idea was to build this peace of art in full-scale; 7 meters high.
Learnt about mixing clay, strenght of clay, temperature of the killns and also inside construction. Peter told me “Aukje the works made in clay are like little children, they need a lot of attention”. It sometimes felt like an monastery, I was addicted to my clay works.
New artwork
In this periode of 3 months you can really focus and experiment and make errors. While making the big segments and test models, I created new work. I placed the scale models in a kind of arrangement and put my little camera on a claytray on wheels.
Exhibition
Back home in Deventer, a friendĀ helped me to put together this film for the exhibition “Loodzwaar Steengoed”.
